Jeffrey A. Carr has been on the faculty of the New York University Stern School of Business for 17 years where he teaches strategy, marketing and entrepreneurship in the MBA, EMBA and undergraduate programs.
In 1998 he was selected for the Stern/Citibank Teacher of the Year Award and this year received the NYU Stern 2011 Teaching Excellence Award. Professor Carr also serves as the executive director of the NYU Stern Berkley Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation which sponsors three business competitions awarding over $250,000 in seed money annually, directs the NYU Stern Venture Mentor Network which offers one-on-one mentoring and coaching to NYU student, alumni and faculty entrepreneurs, has a virtual incubator to help start-up ventures and manages a renowned social entrepreneurship program. Professor Carr is also an Adjunct Professor of Marketing at the George Washington University School of Business where he taught Strategic Marketing to the EMBA class of 2011 and was voted Outstanding EMBA Faculty in an advanced topic.
Possessing the genetic defect common to many entrepreneurs, Professor Carr has been self-employed since he was twenty-three. He is currently president of Marketing Foundations Inc., working extensively in Europe, Asia, Africa and the U.S. for clients such as Booz & Co., IBM, Thomson Reuters, Pfizer, Time Inc. and many start-up and early stage ventures. For the past 15 years he has worked with the World Health Organization (WHO) in a United Nations sponsored program to help developing countries create more effective budgeting strategies and implementation plans for their healthcare initiatives. He also regularly consults with non-profit organizations regarding strategy and marketing planning.
